So how this system works? The workings of the HSA system are to use a sophisticated computerized system to measure the body slope of the car when it is stuck on the incline. After that, in the slope condition detected, the system will be idle waiting for the driver to release the brake pedal. When the brake pedal is released, the system swiftly activates the brakes automatically to prevent the car from backing down. And when the driver has stepped on the gas pedal the system will automatically release the brake. Usually the maximum interval given by the HSA system to activate the brakes automatically is around 2-3 seconds.
